Decide who can report and revoke

Specify who takes a lost-card call and who has permission to disable the credential. Include after-hours contact and identity checks for the requester.

Review the exposure

Determine which doors and schedules the credential could reach, and whether event logs show relevant use. Coordinate any physical keys or shared badges separately.

Complete the replacement

Issue the new credential under an approved role, record the old identifier as inactive and tell the user how to report further problems. Test a representative opening.

Working example: The scenario below is illustrative. It describes a practical design and review method, not a completed customer project or a guaranteed result.

A working scenario

A visitor badge is reported missing late on Friday; reception has closed and the on-call team cannot identify an administrator. The response is a governance question.

The decision to make before buying

Define report intake, identity verification, immediate disablement, offline-panel propagation, temporary replacement and event review under the customer's policy.

A useful acceptance test

Run a supervised test: report loss, revoke, attempt access at representative doors, confirm logs and reissue a limited replacement credential.

What the owner should receive

Record authorization, affected doors, time of removal, exceptions during outages, replacement issuance and follow-up review.

Questions owners ask

Why is “disable the badge” incomplete?

A revocation can be delayed on offline controllers or in linked visitor and parking systems. Staff also need to verify the reporter, decide whether event review is warranted, issue a replacement with limited rights and record who approved the change. The customer's incident policy determines further action.

What should a drill demonstrate?

Use a test identity and credential. Time the disablement, attempt entry at representative online and offline doors under approval, restore connectivity and check logs. Do not test with a real user's credential or disrupt required access without permission.
